ESTIMATOR – Structural Steelwork and Metalwork Part-Time/Full- Time
As part of our planned growth an opportunity exists within Steelgram Fabrications Ltd for an experienced Estimator with a background in Structural steelwork and Architectural metalwork for projects of all sizes in the construction industry. The position is permanent for the right candidate, part time or full time to be discussed
All works are bespoke, and to meet client requirements, from the initial design phase, to develop design intents into workable solutions. Due to an increasing order book, we are seeking a pro-active individual with suitable experience in the steel industry to join our project team in Sheffield
Steelgram Fabrications Ltd product range includes, structural steelwork, including steel frame buildings, steelwork refurbishment and repair works, and metalwork packages including staircases and balustrades, and decking.
Duties and responsibilities
- To analyse and interpret tender specifications, engineers and architects drawings, bills of quantities, clients designs for all steelwork and metalwork enquiries
- To use the information identified to create material take off sheets and a Tender Cost Build Up to use to create a formal tender document
- To assess the site installation requirements of each project to build into costs
- To propose alternatives to specs in order to reduce cost and/or improve quality and efficiency
- To visit construction sites to carry out basic surveys, if required, to enable pricing
- To Produce written detailed quotations to present to the client
- To follow up submitted quotes
- To be accurate in all aspects of work
- To work to tight deadlines and prioritise own work to ensure quotes are submitted to clients on time
- Will need to have or gain CSCS health & safety accreditation for site visits
Experience and Knowledge
- At least 2 years experience of working as a structural steelwork and metalwork estimator
- Good understanding of technical drawings, construction methods and engineering principles
- Excellent numeracy and computer skills
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Self-motivated and driven
- Team player who can work on own initiative
- Good personal communication skills, verbal and written
- Must be eligible to work in the UK and have full UK driving licence
Salary is negotiable dependent on experience and contracted hours
